The structure of the gate valve is relatively simple, mainly composed of valve body, gate, valve stem and sealing components. Gate is a key component of the valve, usually made of cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials, the upper and lower parts are connected with the valve stem and valve seat. The sealing performance of the gate valve mainly depends on the contact surface between the gate and the valve seat. These contact surfaces are usually specially treated, such as grinding and polishing, to ensure its flatness and smoothness. When the gate is lowered and fitted with the valve seat, a reliable seal can be formed to prevent medium leakage.
The gate valve has the characteristics of simple structure, good sealing performance and small flow resistance. It is suitable for cut-off operation under high pressure and ultra-high pressure conditions, as well as occasions requiring strict sealing. However, the gate valve is not suitable for use as a throttle valve, because long time in the half open state may aggravate the wear of the gate and valve seat.
